ABSTRACT

The response of soybean to glyphosate at rates between 10 ppm and 100 ppm was determined at different temperature regimes [28 degree, and 8 degree] with light level of 650 uEm[-2]S[-1]. Glyphosate reduced fresh and dry weight of plants and such reduction increases by the increase in temperatures and concentrations of the herbicides. Experiment of C[14] glyphosate showed that the differences in Phytotoxicity were due to absorption and translocation of the tagged herbicides. ABSTRACT

These experiments were a field trial which has been carried out to show the effect of H2S fumigation [0, 50 and 100 ppm] on growth and some biochemical changes in rocket and radish plants. Results showed that during the growth periods [3-6 weeks] of both rocket and radish plants, all growth parameters decreased as affected by H2S. Application of H2S decreased most of the N fractions, accumulation of sugars and biosynthesis of polysaccharides. H2S greatly reduced the activities of peroxidase, nitrate-reductase and glutamate dehydrogenase enzymes. Also H2S showed varied effects on the different amino acids

ABSTRACT

Experiments were conducted with rocket, radish and tomato seedlings to determine the effect of H[2]S at different concentrations on the growth and some biochemical changes. H[2]S induced significant inhibitory effect on radical and plumule elongation, photosynthetic activities, accumulation of soluble sugars and biosynthesis of polysaccharides. The degrees of inhibition was a function of both concentration and duration of treatment

ABSTRACT

Fifty and Hundred ppm of H2 were supplied to tomato plants growing under field conditions. The results indicated that all growth parameters studied decreased. The reduction became greater when concentration and/or number of treatments increased. H2S induced significant inhibitory effects on photosynthetic activities, accumulation of soluble sugars, biosynthesis of polysaccharides and most of the soluble nitrogen. ABSTRACT

An experiment was conducted for two successive seasons to study the effect of adenine, cytosine and thiamine on growth, pigment and alkaloid content of Datura metel L. Plant height, number of leaves and branches, leaf area, as well as fresh and dry weights of different organs were significantly increased by soaking the seeds with different levels of the three basic compounds used. The highest content of chlorophyll A,B and caretenoide in leaves were obtained with cytosine at 400 ppm concentration. Adenine, cytosine and thiamine showed a stimulatory effect on organic materials such as protein and alkaloids content in all organs of Datura plants
